Linux Install NTP to keep server's time in sync

It may not seem critical to ensure that your server's time is in sync with the rest of the world, but many 3rd party libraries actually depend on it.

Some of Amazon's AWS APIs, for example, verify signatures based on the time they are created on your server.

If your server's time is even 5 minutes behind, the signature won't match.
#install ntp
sudo yum install ntp

# make sure it's starts up after reboot
sudo /sbin/chkconfig ntpd on

# start the ntp service now
sudo /etc/init.d/ntpd start
